About Us
S. R. Labby is a boutique law firm serving businesses, political campaigns, and individual private clients. The Firm represents a new law firm model that delivers sophisticated service to our clients by challenging old legal models, honing new ones, and bringing insights and analysis from other professions into our legal practice.
The Firm’s model is built from simple principles: first, representing clients is a privilege that demands dedication and hard work. However, the exacting standards of elite corporate legal practice do not always seem to apply to certain areas of legal service, ranging from risk and crisis management to election law and family practice.
Second, analytical tools standard in sectors from finance to technology are largely absent from even elite legal practices. Third, the legal market itself discourages legal service innovation that would address these problems; instead, there is an increasing sub-specialization of legal practice, resulting in a loss of broad strategic analysis and counsel and at an increased financial cost to clients.
With these principles, S. R. Labby brings broad analytical and practical skills—and plain intellectual firepower—of carefully chosen in-house attorneys, staff, and outside firms and consultants to provide best-in-class service to our clients.
We combine unique quantitative and qualitative analysis with a deep understanding of traditional litigation and transactional legal work, including sophisticated motion practice and appeals. Beyond the boundaries of technical legal practice, we anticipate problems before they arise, often enabling us to prevent crises altogether. Ideally, this leads us to a quick and satisfactory resolution. Our clients are rarely surprised by the strategies or tactics we encounter and are, instead, exceptionally prepared. We remain scrupulously attuned to the motivations and approaches of our adversaries, foreseeing strategies and tactics so that we can advise, protect, and fortify our clients even in high-stakes and high-conflict matters.
Because of our approach, we can better advise clients about the risks and likely outcomes of their matters, and we understand these matters exist in a matrix that includes businesses, personal issues, and reputations. Whether clients are in politics, entertainment, finance, professional sports, media, medicine, law, or venture capital, we understand their legal challenges and how they fit into and affect the rest of their personal and professional lives. For our corporate clients, we understand the complexities of running businesses on a global scale, the need to predict and control risk, and the need to prepare in advance for times of crisis, which are increasingly inevitable.
